Meet Mrs. Sims
My name is Mrs. Nancy Sims and I am so excited to be your child's kindergarten teacher. I love teaching at JFK! This is my 18th year teaching here and my 15th in kindergarten.
I have been married to my amazing husband John for 36 years. I am the proud mother of two teachers! Rebecca (33) teaches 2nd grade in Maryland, and Johnny (28) teaches 7th grade history in NJ. We have an adorable mini-schnauzer named Griffey. We are so proud to be Nani and PopPop to our grandson JP!
I love spending time with my family. If I am not on Pinterest or Amazon, you can find me at Target! I am obsessed with the colors teal and lime green, Diet Coke, and everything about HGTV!

My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that all children can learn. I also believe that education is a life-long process that begins when we are born and continues throughout life. I believe that learning should be fun. I believe that children should be respected and valued for their individual differences. I create a healthy, respectful, supportive and challenging learning environment that accommodates all types of learners by differentiating instruction to meet individual needs. Positive relationships and supportive interactions are the foundation of my work with young children. I create a positive, fun, learning environment rich in print and activities that stimulate the desire to promote new meaning. I believe in using children's prior knowledge to engage them in meaningful, purposeful activities that will provide authentic learning experiences. I believe that parents and community members are partners in education. Fostering this partnership is the key to helping our children grow.
